Deze apparaten bevatten twee onafhankelijke D-type flip-flops met positieve rand.Een laag niveau bij de ingangen van de preset () of clear () stelt of herstelt de uitgangen, ongeacht de niveaus van de andere ingangen. Wanneer en inactief zijn (hoog), worden de gegevens bij de data (D) -invoer die aan de set-up tijdseisen voldoet, overgedragen aan de uitgangen aan de positieve kant van de klokpuls.Clock triggering vindt plaats op een spanningsniveau en is niet direct gerelateerd aan de stijging tijd van de klok pulsNa het wachttijdinterval kunnen de gegevens bij de ingang D worden gewijzigd zonder dat dit de niveaus bij de uitgangen beïnvloedt.
De SN54F74 is geschikt voor gebruik in het volledige militaire temperatuurbereik van -55°C tot 125°C. De SN74F74 is geschikt voor gebruik tussen 0°C en 70°C.
