De ’AHCT74 dubbele positieve-flank-getriggerde apparaten zijn D-type flip-flops. Een laag niveau op de preset (PRE) of clear (CLR) ingangen stelt of reset de uitgangen, ongeacht de niveaus van de andere ingangen. Wanneer PRE en CLR inactief (hoog) zijn, wordt data op de data (D) ingang die voldoet aan de setup-tijdvereisten overgedragen naar de uitgangen op de positieve flank van de klokpuls. Kloktriggering vindt plaats op een spanningsniveau en is niet direct gerelateerd aan de stijgtijd van de klokpuls.
